Growing up in a log house in rural Oregon, Ronnie’s roots in country music developed at an early age. Influenced by such artists as Hank Williams Sr., Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Tom T. Hall, Ronnie quickly gained an appreciation for the traditional sound and song crafting of country music. At the age of 14, Ronnie taught himself to play guitar, and then a few years later, learned to play the 5 string banjo.
Says Ronnie, "when I first heard Earl Scruggs playing, "Foggy Mountain Breakdown", I couldn’t believe my ears. It moved me so much that I had to learn to play that instrument as well". After graduating high school, Ronnie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for four years, while continuing to pursue his love of country music.
After separating with an honorable discharge, Ronnie moved back into civilian life where he soon met his future wife, Susan. They married and now live in Oregon with their two children. Ronnie has co-written with various writers as well as composing his own music. He has combined his faith with his love of country music and has been successful in obtaining some country/gospel cuts. Currently, Ronnie is very pleased with the reception that his first release, " I Underestimated Loving You" is receiving. Ronnie continues to write and record his compositions, always striving to become better at his craft.
